SIDE-EFFECTS
Remember that your doctor has prescribed this medication as he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects.
Possible side-effects of Ventolin Inhaler may include: Nervousness, shaking (tremor), headache, mouth/throat dryness or irritation, changes in taste, cough, nausea or dizziness may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, then promptly tell your doctor or pharmacist.
Seek medical help immediately if you have any of the following rare but serious side effects of Ventolin Inhaler:
- chest pain;
- irregular heartbeat;
- low potassium (confusion, uneven heart rate, extreme thirst, increased urination, leg discomfort, muscle weakness or limp feeling);
- dangerously high blood pressure (severe headache, blurred vision, buzzing in your ears, anxiety, confusion, chest pain, shortness of breath, uneven heartbeats or seizure).
This is not a complete list of side-effects and others might occur. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor about any other side-effects you may experience.
SAFETY
Do not take Ventolin Inhaler if you are allergic to it. For people using the Diskus package, do not take if you are allergic to lactose, milk protein or milk.
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have had a serious reaction to similar types of drugs (such as levalbuterol, metaproterenol, terbutaline); or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems.
The following medications may seriously interact with Ventolin Inhaler and cause very harmful effects. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more information:
- Sympathomimetics/Selected Inhalation;
- Anesthetic Agents.
The following medications may cause some risk when taken together with Ventolin Inhaler. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more in formation:
- Beta-2 Agonists/Non-Cardioselective Beta Blockers;
- Inhaled Direct-Acting Sympathomimetics/Tricyclic Compounds.
Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist about your medical history, especially of: heart problems (such as irregular heartbeat, angina, heart attack), high blood pressure or seizure.
This drug may make you dizzy, so do not drive, use machinery, or do any activity that requires attentiveness and vigilance until you are sure you can perform such activities safely. Limit or abstain from alcoholic beverages.
Before having surgery, ensure that you inform your doctor or dentist about all the products you use including prescription drugs, non-prescription drugs and not forgetting herbal products.
During pregnancy, this medication should be used only when clearly needed. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. Please note, that it is unknown if this medication passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
