Is A Prescription Required to Have Synthroid?

A Prescription is required to purchase Synthroid from our fully certified Canadian online pharmacy.

What Is the Drug Synthroid Used For?

Synthroid is a thyroid medication and is prescribed when the thyroid gland does not produce enough hormone (a condition called as hypothyroidism). It is also used for decreasing the size of enlarged thyroid gland (called as goiter) and for the treatment of thyroid cancer.

How Does Synthroid Work in The Body?

The medication Synthroid contains levothyroxine sodium, which is the same as the thyroxine horomone, produced naturally by the thyroid gland in our body. When the body is not able to produce enough thyroid hormones, it leads to hypothyroidism and a state of reduced metabolism in the body. Levothyroxine sodium is intended to replace the thyroxine hormone produced naturally by the thyroid gland. Synthroid restores the thyroid hormone balance.

How Is Synthroid Supplied and Stored?

Synthroid is manufactured by Mylan Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and is available in the dosage forms of 25, 50, 75, 88, 100, 112, 125, 137, 150, 175, 200 and 300 mcg in bottles of 90 tablets each.

The medication should be stored at a temperature between 15°C and 25°C, in a tightly closed container, protected from light and moisture. It should be kept out of sight and reach of children.

What Is the Cost of Synthroid?

The average cost for Synthroid oral tablet 25 mg is around $95 for 90 tablets, which is $1.06 per tablet. Our verified online pharmacy is pleased to offer you the Synthroid 25 mcg at an unbeatable price of $34 for a supply of 90 tablets, which is $0.38 per tablet, 65% off the average retail price of $1.06. The medication Synthroid consists of active ingredient called as Levothyroxine. Levothyroxine is the generic form of Synthroid.

What Foods to Avoid While Taking Synthroid?

Taking certain foods with Synthroid may affect the absorption of levothyroxine. These foods include soybean flour, cotton seed meal, walnuts, calcium and calcium fortified orange juice, grapefruit, dietary fiber and magnesium supplements.

What Vitamins Should Not Be Taken with Synthroid?

Vitamins such as magnesium, aluminum and compounds containing these such as antacids, simethicone, sucralfate and iron containing compounds can lead to a decrease in the absorption of Synthroid. Hence, these should not be taken within four hours of taking Synthroid.

Can Synthroid Cause You to Lose Weight?

Synthroid may cause weight gain or loss as a side effect. However, thyroid preparations including Synthroid should not be used for treatment of obesity or for weight loss as they can lead to serious or even life-threatening side effects.

How Do I Take My Synthroid?

Take Synthroid exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Thyroid hormone replacement is usually prescribed for a life time. Do not change the amount of dose or how often you take it, unless advised by your doctor. Synthroid should be taken as a single dose, preferably empty stomach, 30 minutes to one hour before breakfast, with a glass of water. It should be taken at the same time every day.

Can You Eat After Taking Thyroid Medicine?

It is recommended to take the thyroid medication empty stomach and then wait for at least 30 to 60 minutes before eating your meals. This is because absorption of levothyroxine sodium is increased on an empty stomach.

Is Synthroid Vegan?

The inactive ingredients of Synthroid include Acacia, confectioner's sugar, lactose, magnesium stearate, povidone, talc and color additives. Since Synthroid contains lactose (milk sugar), the medication is not vegan.

Signs and symptoms include weight loss, increased appetite, palpitations, nervousness, diarrhea, abdominal cramps, sweating, fast heart rate, increased pulse, increased blood pressure, abnormal heartbeats, angina, tremors, loss of sleep, heat intolerance, fever, menstrual irregularity, confusion, disorientation. In addition, clotting in brain, shock, coma and death have also been reported with overdosing of levothyroxine.

What Are the Possible Side Effects of Synthroid?
