Is A Prescription Required To Purchase Proventil Inhaler?

Proventil Inhaler is a prescription inhalation aerosol that can be purchased from licensed online pharmacies.

What Is Proventil Inhaler Used to Treat?

Proventil inhaler is prescribed to adults and children of 4 years of age and older for treatment or prevention of bronchospasm (wheezing, shortness of breath) with reversible obstructive airway disease like asthma and for prevention of exercise-induced bronchospasm.

How Does Proventil Work?

Proventil’s active ingredient is salbutamol (also known as albuterol) which is a bronchodilator. It works by relaxing the bronchial smooth muscles and opening the breathing passages.

How Is Proventil Supplied and Stored?

The inhaler is supplied in generic form as salbutamol. It will be our privilege to offer you the generic salbutamol from Canada. Proventil inhaler is a pressurized aluminum canister with a yellow plastic actuator and orange dust cap each in boxes of one. Canisters labeled with a net weight of 6.7 g contain 200 inhalations.

This medication should be stored at a temperature of 15°C to 25°C. The inhaler should be stored with the mouthpiece down. For best results, canisters should be stored at room temperature before use. It should be kept out of the reach of children.

Is Proventil A Steroid Inhaler?

Salbutamol/Albuterol is not a steroid. Inhalers which contain salbutamol such as Proventil do not contain steroids.

Is Proventil Considered A Rescue Inhaler?

Proventil HFA is a rescue inhaler which means it provides short-acting and quick relief from the asthma symptoms like wheezing, coughing and chest tightness flare.

What Does HFA Mean in An Inhaler?

HFA stands for hydrofluoroalkane in an inhaler. It is kind of a spray or propellant.

Is Ventolin and Proventil the Same?

Both Proventil and Ventolin are HFA (hydrofluoroalkane) inhalers and dispense albuterol (salbutamol) and both are used as bronchodilators.

Is Proventil and ProAir the Same?

Proventil and ProAir are both inhalers and contain same dosage of salbutamol/albuterol, prescribed for respiratory conditions such as asthma and exercise induced bronchospasm. The only difference is that they are manufactured by different companies.

What Is the Cost of Proventil?

We are pleased to offer you the generic equivalent of Proventil Inhaler (salbutamol) at lowest price of $20 per inhaler. The average price for Proventil inhaler is round $75-$80 for one inhaler in the market. It is always best to compare the prices of this medication online at edrugsearch or Pharmacychecker.Com.

How Is Proventil Inhaler Used?

Shake well before using the inhaler. It is recommended for the patients to prime the inhaler when using it for the first time and in cases where it has not been used for more than 2 weeks by releasing four test sprays into the air, away from your face. The plastic mouthpiece should be kept clean in order to prevent medication build up and blockage. The mouthpiece should be washed, shaken to remove excess water and air dried completely once every week. The dosage of the medication should be taken as prescribed by your health care professional and complete instructions on the package insert should be followed. You should avoid spraying the medication in your eyes. Since contents of the medication are under pressure, do not puncture. Do not expose to temperatures above 120 °F as it may lead to bursting. Children should use the inhaler only under the supervision of adults. You should discard the canister after 200 sprays have been used.

How Long Does the Action of Proventil Last?

The action of Proventil lasts for about 4 to 6 hours. The inhaler should not be used more than the recommended dosage and frequency as prescribed by your doctor. If you find the treatment with Proventil inhaler as less effective in providing symptomatic relief, or the symptoms get worse, you should consult your doctor immediately.

What Are The Side Effects of Proventil?

Most common side effects of treatment with Proventil include palpitations, chest pain, increased heart rate, tremor or nervousness.

How Safe Is Proventil?

Inhalation of salbutamol sulfate can cause paradoxical bronchospasm, which can be life threatening. If this condition occurs, Proventil should be discontinued immediately and alternative therapy started. Proventil like other beta-agonists can cause some significant cardiovascular effects in certain patients. In case these events occur, Proventil inhalation should be discontinued. Proventil Inhaler should be used in caution in patients with cardiovascular disorders such as cardiac arrhythmias, hypertension and coronary insufficiency. It is important not to exceed the recommended dose as fatalities have been reported in association with excessive use of inhaled sympathomimetic drugs in asthmatic patients. The exact cause of death is not known, but cardiac arrest following an unexpected development of a severe acute asthmatic crisis and subsequent hypoxia is suspected. Proventil can cause immediate allergic reactions in some patients with symptoms of urticaria, angioedema, rashes, bronchospasm and anaphylaxis.

When Should You Not Take Proventil?

Do not take Proventil if you are allergic or hypersensitive to salbutamol/albuterol or any other Proventil HFA ingredients.

What Should You Tell Your Doctor Before Using Proventil?

Before taking Proventil always talk to your health care professional in case you:
  • Have cardiovascular disorders like hypertension, arrhythmias and coronary insufficiency
  • Have convulsive disorders
  • Have hyperthyroidism, diabetes mellitus

What Medicines Can Interact With Proventil?

You should always tell your health care professional about any medications that you have been taking or are going to take including prescription and non-prescription drugs, vitamins and herbal supplements. Medicines that may interact with Proventil are:
  • Beta-blockers which can not only block the pulmonary effect of Proventil and also cause bronchospasm in asthmatic patients
  • Diuretics which cause ECG changes and hypokalemia. These effects can be worsened severely by Proventil and other beta agonists
  • Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) and tricyclic antidepressants. Proventil Inhaler should be given with extreme caution in patients receiving these medicines because the action of salbutamol on cardiovascular system might be aggravated.
