The mouthpiece should be washed, shaken to remove excess water and air dried completely once every week. Do not increase the dose of ProAir HFA or take extra doses without talking to your doctor first. You should avoid spraying the medication in your eyes. How Safe Is ProAir HFA?

Inhalation of salbutamol sulfate can cause paradoxical bronchospasm, which can be life threatening. If this condition occurs, ProAir HFA should be discontinued immediately and alternative therapy started. ProAir HFA like other beta-agonists can cause some significant cardiovascular effects in certain patients. In case these events occur, ProAir HFA should be discontinued. ProAir HFA should be used in caution in patients with cardiovascular disorders such as cardiac arrhythmias, hypertension and coronary insufficiency. It is important not to exceed the recommended dose as fatalities have been reported in association with excessive use of inhaled sympathomimetic drugs in asthmatic patients. The exact cause of death is not known, but cardiac arrest following an unexpected development of a severe acute asthmatic crisis and subsequent hypoxia is suspected. ProAir HFA can cause immediate allergic reactions in some patients with symptoms of urticaria, angioedema, rashes, bronchospasm and anaphylaxis.

When Should You Not Take ProAir HFA?
